Obituary: Georg Haber

We are deeply sorry about the tragic death of Dipl. Ing. Georg Haber, who died in a car accident in Vienna today. From 1991 to 2010, Georg Haber was responsible for the commercial affairs of the Jewish Museum Vienna.

Georg Haber was born in Vienna in 1938. His parents emigrated in 1939 to Palestine, where he attended elementary school for four years. After returning with his family to Austria in 1948, he went on to study at the Vienna University of Technology as of 1956, receiving a graduate engineering degree in telecommunications. Haber worked at his parents’ department store, Brüder Haber, until 1971, then at Henkel Austria until 1991. Since 1980 he had been doing volunteer work at the Jewish Community of Vienna, among other things, in the editorial committee of the Community, as well as in the cultural commission.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family. We will honor his memory at the Jewish Museum of Vienna.
